Dr. Qiong Zhang
Dr. Qiong Zhang will join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida in August 2009. Dr. Zhang received her BS in Environmental Engineering from the North-West Institute of Architecture Engineering in China, M.S. in Environmental Engineering from TsingHua University in China, and Ph.D. from Michigan Technological University. She was an assistant professor in HangZhou University in China before she came to the United States. Her professional appointments also include lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, postdoctoral research, senior research engineer and adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and operations manager of Sustainable Futures Institute at Michigan Technological University. Dr. Zhang’s research is focused on green engineering, water treatment, and environmental assessment for sustainability. Her research projects include developing embodied energy models, water treatment cost models and the software tools to optimize the design of water/air treatment systems, incorporating green engineering principles in the design and engineering curriculum, and assessing the fate of chemicals in the environment and their life cycle impact.
