New Students
Peace Corps Information
You must apply to the Peace Corps after you have been accepted into the Master's International program and one year prior to your desired departure date. For example, most students leave in the summer after the fall and spring semester at USF so you would begin the Peace Corps application in the summer before you begin your first fall semester at USF. Be sure to specify on your application that you are part of the MI program. USF has a Peace Corps office, where you can learn about the various steps involved in becoming a Peace Corps volunteer

To streamline your medical clearance, if you're doing it at USF with the grad student insurance, really isn't too bad. Here are some suggestions that might help and snags to watch out for.
Polio Shot
There is an immunization clinic that will do blood work fairly cheaply. It gets crowded very quickly though so it is worth it to get there at 7:30am before it opens. It is worth it though because they give the polio shot for only $32-$35.
Main Immunization Clinic

Tampa, FL 33605-5924
(813) 307-8077

Blood Work/TB test:
Be sure to tell your doctor exactly what you need. PC is very specific about the types of test they require, pay particular attention to the TB test. If you don't get the right test done, you will have to get poked twice.
Physical
This should be the last thing you do with respect to medical clearance. The nurses wonÕt sign off on your papers until youÕve got all your immunization records and the lab results from the blood work.
Girls, you can get this all taken care of when you schedule your gynecology appointment. Just let them know when you call that you want the physical, too.
Dental
There is a list of dentists that will provide free dental exams for Peace Corps volunteers. See the following link.
